Irving Gill Simmons House Tour
The W.G. Simmons house located in San Diego’s Bankers Hill neighborhood was designed in 1909 by Irving J. Gill as an early example of his famed cubist style. Join AIA San Diego's Preservation & Reuse Committee, John Sheehan, FAIA and Roy McMakin to learn how Irving J. Gill used a challenging lot to his advantage, tested a number of his experimental housing ideas, building a compact gem of a family home. The owners are working toward an accurate and scholarly restoration of the house so it will be preserved as a cultural artifact for causal and scholarly research and enjoyment.
