Global Challenges, National Priorities Security dynamics in an uncertain world
We increasingly find ourselves immersed in a world where the landscape of security is constantly evolving, presenting both unprecedented challenges and unparalleled opportunities. In an era of interconnectedness and interdependence, the dynamics of security have taken on a new dimension. We are confronted with a profound dilemma: the imperative for increased cooperation amidst the necessity for nations to reduce their reliance on others. This juxtaposition underscores the complexity of the security environment we inhabit - a landscape where the pursuit of national interests must be balanced with the recognition of shared vulnerabilities and common threats.
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation Regional Programme Australia and the Pacific is delighted to hold its 3rd KAS Australia Security Conference on German-Indo-Pacific common security concerns to be held in Canberra on 28 October, 2024.
This year, we have secured the support and participation of The Centre for Future Defence and National Security (Deakin University), the Australian Institute of International Affairs and the National Security College (based at the Australian National University).
The conference seeks to bring together parliamentarians, experts, practitioners and representatives from relevant government institutions and the diplomatic corps, for open, policy-relevant exchanges and discussions on common security concerns, potential areas of future cooperation and effective strategies for dealing with the current international security environment. It will examine issues ranging from regional conflicts and geopolitical tensions to economic interdependence and the challenges of emerging technologies and climate change, exploring innovative strategies and collaborative frameworks that can reconcile seemingly divergent objectives.
We are particularly grateful to our colleagues from the Singapore-based KAS Media Program Asia who will be supporting our conference with a number of journalists from various news outlets across the Indo-Pacific, ensuring the relevant messaging is accessible beyond the walls of the conference itself. To ensure latest conference updates and attendance, please register your interest in attending the conference NOW!
We are extremely excited to showcase our lineup of impressive keynote speakers and panellists. Additional information will be updated shortly!
