Keller Strauss's Bar Mitzvah
Celebrate with us on December 14
Our family is excited to invite you to join us in the celebration of our beloved son, Keller Joseph Strauss, as he becomes a bar mitzvah.

The acts of preparation and successful completion of the bar mitzvah religious service marks a major milestone in the life of a Jewish boy. For Keller, this is a coming of age ceremony and represents the moment when he becomes a Jewish adult and member of his community. This means that he will become responsible for his own actions and will henceforth decide for himself how he would like to practice his Jewish life.

Keller's parents, Jeff and Jamie, and his sister, Madeleine, are extremely proud of him for all of the work he has put into this special day. He has learned to read and speak Hebrew; dedicated himself to learning the liturgical prayers and blessings that comprise a Jewish religious service; studied and prepared to recite from the Torah; and practiced to lead his congregation and community in worship. It is no small feat and we are grateful to have a son and brother like him!

The bar mitzvah service will be held on the morning of December 14, 2024, at our family's synagogue, Temple Emanuel of St. Louis, with a light luncheon to follow. After a couple hours for rest, we will continue with a joyous celebration at CITYPARK, the home of St. Louis CITY Soccer Club, in downtown St. Louis. More information about the weekend's festivities can be found below on this site.

We love you all and hope you will join us for this special occasion in Keller's life!

Event Attire
One of the most frequently ask questions from our family and friends is, "What should I wear?" Traditions and expectations vary, of course, from one Jewish family and community to the next. And for many of you, this may be your first Bar Mitzvah service and celebration.

Our answer, within reason, is that we want you to be comfortable. This can best be described as a semi-formal affair. At the synagogue, men should wear nice slacks with a jacket and, optionally, a tie. A suit is welcome, if that is what you have and prefer to wear, but it is not required. Women can dress to a similar level.

The evening will be slightly more relaxed. You can keep the same clothing as for the afternoon service, if you like, or wear something business casual. This celebration is, after all, at a soccer stadium!
