National Latina/o Physician Day!
Join us for this awesome event on October 01!

¡Únete a nosotras para este increíble evento el 1 de octubre!
National Latino/a Physician Day was established on October 1st to celebrate Latino and Latina physicians in the United States. We represent 6% of the physician workforce and recognize the critical shortage of Latino/a physicians compared to the U.S. Latino/a population (19%). We believe public awareness of this underrepresentation will generate systemic change and inspire the next generation of physicians. Our mission is further inspired by historical - and existing - health disparities disproportionately affecting our communities, which include distinguishing examples - specific to the Latina/o patient population - such as non-English speaking patients. Healthcare disparities have worsened, creating urgency for Latina/o physician representation in the U.S. workforce. Beyond raising awareness of Latina/o physician representation and healthcare disparities, NLPD represents an urgent “Call to Action” for hospitals, academic medical centers, educators, and legislative leaders to incorporate structural changes to improve all minority representation in the U.S. physician workforce!
