Laura Wright in concert
Join us on December 08
Join Laura Wright for a one off Christmas concert full of festive favourites at St Mary's Church, Diss. After her sell out show earlier in the year, she's back by popular demand and this time it's at the most wonderful time of the year!
Mezzo-soprano Laura Wright is no stranger to performing at high profile events and broadcasting live to millions of people. She has written and performed for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on numerous occasions, most memorably for her 90th birthday. Laura wrote the anthem Invincible for The Invictus Games and performed it at the inaugural ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium and subsequently at the official Invictus Opening Ceremonies in Florida, Toronto and Sydney.
After winning BBC Chorister of the Year at the age of 15, Laura became one of the decade’s biggest selling artists. Laura, now 34, is currently writing her 8th album.
Laura’s desire to promote the power of music is reflected through her work as Ambassador for the Soldiers’ Arts Academy, Ambassador for the Open University’s Disabled Veterans Scholarship Fund, Ambassador for Sports Aid, UK Ambassador for the Invictus Games, a Place2Be Champion, Community Ambassador for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation & Founder of the DSWF Breathing World Youth Composer Competition, Ambassador for Versus Arthritis, Ambassador for the Stroke Association, Ambassador for the Grand National, the first ever Ambassador for the Kia Women's Cricket League, a Presenter for BBC Songs of Praise, a Judge for BBC Chorister of the Year and the England Rugby team’s first ever official singer. In 2012 she became a proud Ambassador for Nordoff Robbins, receiving the PPL Classical Award at their 02 Silver Clef Awards. Most recently, Laura accepted the honour of becoming the first female Ambassador for the Military Wives Choirs.
During the pandemic, Laura gave around 400 online Sing Happy workshops to individuals struggling mentally with isolation, many of whom live with PTSD. She also released over 50 episodes of her own podcast Music in My Life and recorded over 30 songs for her chosen charities.
