In-Depth and Dynamic Social Studies Learning Through Inquiry
Inquiry-based learning not only piques students’ curiosity and engagement, it also leads to deeper learning! In this workshop, participants will delve into inquiry-based learning in Social Studies, using materials developed by The DBQ Project.
Known for skillfully blending skill instruction with social studies content, each DBQ Project unit begins with a compelling question to guide the inquiry process. Students analyze documents, draw conclusions, and support their conclusions with evidence from the documents. All the while supported by strategic scaffolding.
Attendees will gain insights into pedagogical strategies for all ability levels and learn to support students in developing critical skills. Designed for social studies teachers in grades 5-12.
