Lewis “Buddy” Holson
 May 23, 1956 - May 22, 2022
We invite you to celebrate the life of Buddy Holson. He fought hard against Stage IV Colon Cancer for four years. His motto was that of the Carolina Panthers- "Keep Pounding". That is what Buddy did throughout his cancer fight. He kept pounding until he could no more. Buddy's death is a painful reminder that life and your health are precious. Please schedule your routine health checkups, including your colonoscopy, when they are recommended. Trust your gut. Love y'all! Keep Pounding! Chop on!
Lewis “Buddy” Holson passed away at his home with his wife by his side on May 22, 2022, the day before his birthday, after a four-year fight against Stage IV Colon Cancer. On May 23, 1956, Buddy was born in San Antonio, TX to the late Lewis and Gloria Holson.  Buddy was a graduate of Edison High School where he was a football player. He attended San Antonio College. Buddy enjoyed an illustrious career in the transportation and logistics field in Texas, Columbia, Charleston, and finally, Charlotte. Buddy owned M&N Logistics, which he proudly named after his boys. Buddy previously served as President of the San Antonio Transportation Club and has been the Executive Director of the NC League of Transportation and Logistics since 2010. Buddy was held in high esteem by all who knew him in the transportation industry.

Buddy married the love of his life, Christy, on November 12, 2005. He entered fatherhood late in life at the age of 50 with the birth of his son, McKinley, and again with the birth of his second son, Nolan, seven years later. He often spoke about Chapters of Life and how his latest Chapter with his family was the best one yet.

In addition to being a wonderful family man, his best friend describes him as an excellent golfer known for his aggressive play and very good putting skills. Before his health rapidly declined, Buddy was frequently on the golf course with his pals, who never cut him any slack despite his diagnosis. His family frequently reaped the spoils of golf tournament wins and informal bets. Buddy was a natural athlete, a trait handed down to his boys, and appreciated football and golf the most.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by his father-in-law, LM “Mickey” Cochran, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Christy, and his sons, McKinley (15) and Nolan (8), and mother-in-law, Anda Cochran. He is also survived by numerous extended family members who have all been extremely supportive from afar. The Holsons would like to thank the many medical professionals who cared for Buddy: Dr. Sanjib Mohanty and Kathy Sammis of Charlotte Gastroenterology and Hepatology; Dr. Robert Stevens of Novant Health Charlotte Colon and Rectal Surgery; Dr. Wyatt Fowler, surgical oncologist, of Novant Health Cancer Institute-Elizabeth; our inimitable oncologist, Dr. Jennifer Dallas, Novant Health Cancer Institute- Mint Hill; and all of the nurses, techs, and employees of the Cancer Institute at both locations. For the last three weeks of Buddy’s life, we were under the care of Novant Health Hospice, specifically Nurse Lynde, Social Worker Valerie, and Chaplain Amanda. They were amazingly supportive and we thank them.
