Obituary
With great sadness, our family announces the passing of Lori Wrenn, aged 62, of Stony Creek, NY. Lori passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on January 19th, 2024.
Born on Staten Island, NY, Lori and her twin sister Karen, spent their summers in Stony Creek with their grandparents. In 1993, Lori moved permanently into the family home, returning to the town she loved as a child. She raised her three children, Nicole, Rebecca, and Joe in Stony Creek and watched with pride as they grew up and started their life journeys.
It was in Stony Creek that Lori met her soulmate, Rich Rossley, eighteen years ago. They explored the backroads and small towns of the Adirondack Mountains and perfected the art of “Junking,” one of Lori’s favorite pastimes. With her artistic eye, she repurposed these into whimsical art that she and Rich displayed in their magnificent gardens. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Lori held the love of her family and friends above everything else and made sure they knew how much she cherished them. Her children and grandchildren stand as a testament to her legacy; they are loyal, compassionate, strong, and brave. Nicole, her daughter, became her best friend and took care of her mother with love during the most challenging of times, while Rebecca, her other daughter, never missed a chance to go on adventures, shop, or help with the gardens. When the grandkids came into the picture, Lori fell deeply in love and made sure to spend precious time with them. As they grew older, she watched with pride as they found passion in competitive sports. Lori was also blessed to have a tight circle of strong women friends who she adored. Through the years, they celebrated life’s joys and held hands during the moments of challenge and grief.
Lori was involved in the local community, serving as a volunteer on the board of the Stony Creek Library for many years. Her efforts helped foster a love of learning among the town's youth. As the children grew up, they sought Lori out for guidance and advice, and many of them still remember her fondly as their second mom.
During her career, Lori gave selflessly to the children and adults she worked with. She worked as a Child Associate in “Project Wings” a pioneering mental health counseling program for kids that was adopted by the Hadley-Luzerne school system. Colleagues recall that she gave unconditional love and acceptance to children who needed a bit of extra adult affirmation, a hug at breakfast in school, help working out the hurts in their lives, and time to play and be a child. Later, Lori worked as a direct care practitioner, supporting adults who lived in the Community Residences of Wilton DDSO. She took care of her clients with respect and affection, giving a much-needed back rub or a tuck-in goodnight with their favorite doll.
Lori is survived by the love of her life, Richard Rossley; daughters, Nicole Travis (Jason) and Rebecca Wrenn; son Joseph Erikson (Katrina); Brian Rossley and Stacey Rossley Staples (Will); eight grandchildren; siblings Jane Tyson (Michael), Carl Erikson (Debra), and her twin sister Karen Erikson (Gary Suter); cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Rolf and Doris Erikson, and former spouse, Frank Wrenn.
