Celebration of Life for
Laura Ellen Howard
 June 11, 1992 - March 8, 2025
With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for the life she lived, we invite you to join us in celebrating the life of Laura at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo. Laura touched the lives of so many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit, and we want to honor her memory in a gathering that reflects her light and love.

For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed live on the church's Youtube Channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFjxuUiw9yacTI3HSppwa6A/live , so that all who loved Laura may join us in remembrance, no matter the distance.

After the service, there will be a reception where we can continue to honor Laura’s memory and spend time with one another, sharing in the joy of knowing such an extraordinary person.

We look forward to celebrating Laura’s life with you, and we thank you for being part of this special moment in honoring her.

Laura Ellen Howard was a force of nature—a radiant soul who embraced life with an unbreakable spirit, infectious laughter, and a heart full of love. She entered this world defying the odds. Facing a congenital heart defect, she underwent a transplant at just eight years old, proving once again that she was a fighter, a survivor, and an inspiration to all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Laura never let challenges define her. She faced every obstacle with unwavering optimism, a bright smile, and an open heart. She was a traveler, a dreamer, and a social butterfly, who had a gift for turning everyone she met into a lifelong friend. She brought people together, making them laugh, and loving them without limits. Her boundless energy and goofiness could light up any room, and she lived each day with a sense of adventure and an appreciation for the beauty of life.

Laura's love was fierce and unconditional. She is survived by her devoted fiancé, Matthew Scanzuso. She leaves behind her grandmother, Kathleen Howard; her beloved siblings Kristopher Howard and Lindsay Michelsen (Bruce Michelsen); and her adored nieces and nephews. She found family in her adoptive parents, Sarah Glenn-Smith and Emily Glenn-Smith, along with her siblings Alex Ferro (Marissa Ferro) and Isabelle Glenn-Smith. She is also survived by her aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Lisa Howard, whom she now joins in eternal peace.

Laura's life was a testament to resilience, love, and human connection. She chose to embrace every moment, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and fearlessness. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten—her free spirit will continue to inspire all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family asks that you honor Laura's adventurous spirit by embracing life fully, traveling to new places, laughing freely, and loving without bounds—just as she did.
