George A. Codding is a Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has approximately 25 years of experience investigating fire scenes and determining the origin and cause of fires. George is also a member and former chair of a county fire investigation team. He is a member of the IAAI and its Colorado Chapter and has served on the board and as President of both organizations. He served as a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, holding the positions of investigator, lieutenant, captain, and battalion chief. He also has experience as a police officer and deputy sheriff. In addition to performing fire investigations in Colorado, George investigates fires in the states of New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona. George holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado Boulder. He has organized and implemented training for seven state and international training conferences. George has teaching experience in law, methodology, and scientific/technical topics related to fire investigation in Colorado and other areas of the United States, as well as internationally in English, French, and Spanish. He is an Adjunct Instructor at Pikes Peak State College Regional Law Enforcement Academy. George is the rewrite author and editor of the 6th Edition of Fire Investigator: Principles and Practice (Jones & Bartlett), which was published in 2022.

Gus Sara

Gus Sara is a partner in the Subrogation Department and practices exclusively in the field of insurance subrogation, handling large property loss cases. He has successfully resolved hundreds of cases for his clients in matters involving commercial and residential fires, explosions, structural collapses, water losses, product liability, construction defects and maritime claims. His clients appreciate his ability to develop effective strategies to resolve matters efficiently and expeditiously. Gus strives to encourage mediation or other forms of dispute resolution as an alternative to litigation. He has participated in complex, multi-party mediations and arbitrations, with favorable results for his clients.
Gus is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey but practices throughout the United States using the services of local counsel under a special program of the Subrogation Department.
In addition to achieving a Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School, Gus also obtained his Master in Business Administration from Rutgers School of Business, with a focus in management. Gus uses the unique knowledge and skillsets he gained from his MBA to help achieve successful results for his clients.
Matt Ferrie

Matt Ferrie is a partner in the Subrogation Department and has practiced exclusively in the field of subrogation since 2007. He investigates and litigates complex commercial and residential property losses involving fire damage, water damage, and structural collapse, among other claims. Matt’s efforts result in multi-million dollar recoveries by firm clients each year.
Matt is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Additionally, he has litigated matters as lead counsel in approximately 25 other jurisdictions nationwide through pro hac vice admission.
Matt has lectured on topics including deposition strategies/tactics, and the selection, retention, and preparation of expert witnesses. Matt has also served as an Attorney-Instructor to expert witnesses in courtroom testimony training seminars.
Prior to joining White and Williams, Matt served as an Assistant District Attorney in Berks County, PA. During his career as an ADA, he prosecuted criminal defendants in over 50 jury and non-jury trials for offenses including attempted murder, aggravated assault, rape, robbery, drug trafficking, unlawful possession/use of firearms, child abuse, domestic violence, and driving under the influence. Matt’s experience as an Assistant District Attorney, including the coordination of investigations, handling a large volume of cases, and proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, has provided a valuable background for gathering and presenting sufficient evidence to hold parties liable for wrongful conduct in the civil arena.
While in law school, Matt received multiple trial advocacy awards, including the Barrister's Award for Excellence. Also while in law school, Matt worked for a global investigative firm where he provided support to investigations/presentations relating to stadium security and employee theft. Prior to law school, Matt served as a Law Clerk in the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he provided support to narcotics investigations involving wiretapping.
Matt has also served as an Arbitrator for the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County.
