Join us for our virtual learning series, ClimateCAP MBA Academy: Understanding the Business of Climate. Through this series we will talk with experts on topics across the climate x business continuum to prepare the business leaders of tomorrow—today’s MBA students— to anticipate and manage climate risks and opportunities in their careers.

Our speaker is Yusuf George, Co-Head of Active Ownership and Engagement at TCW. Mr. George will speak about creating impact beyond financial returns, active ownership investing and how investors impact corporate governance. Mr. George will be in conversation with Witold J. Henisz, the Vice Dean and Faculty Director of the ESG Initiative and the Deloitte & Touche Professor of Management in Honor of Russell E. Palmer at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.

About the Speakers
Mr. George is Co-Head of Active Ownership and Engagement at the TCW Group. In this role he is responsible for leading and developing TCW’s active ownership and engagement efforts across the firm’s investment platform and business strategy as a part of the Sustainable Investment Group. At Engine No. 1, he was Head of Active Ownership and oversaw active ownership and proxy voting strategies for the firm’s fund portfolio companies. Prior to joining Engine No. 1 in 2021, he worked at JUST Capital, where he developed and led the firm’s corporate engagement strategy, oversaw the racial equity portfolio, and assisted with investor-related engagement. He began his career within the Global Capital Markets division at Barclay’s Capital. Mr. George is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the NAACP where he serves on the investment committee and is a member of the Board of Directors for Net Impact. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Trinity College.

Witold J. Henisz is the Vice Dean and Faculty Director, ESG Initiative and the Deloitte & Touche Professor of Management in Honor of Russell E. Palmer, former Managing Partner at The Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania. His research examines the impact of political hazards as well as environmental, social and governance factors more broadly on the strategy and valuation of global corporations. This work analyzes best practices in corporate diplomacy to win the hearts and minds of external stakeholders as well as the measurement thereof. He has published over three dozen peer-reviewed articles in top-ranked journals in international business, management, international studies and sociology, is the author of the book “Corporate Diplomacy” and co-authored over twenty teaching cases. Witold has won multiple teaching awards and teaches extensively in executive education programs. He is currently a principal in the consultancy PRIMA LLC whose clients span multinational firms, asset managers, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations.
