9:00am - 10:15am Understanding and Working with Dog Aggression
Keeping it simple is key to fostering an understanding of aggressive behavior by our clients or adopters. Mike will highlight the straightforward concepts and techniques he incorporates in aggression cases for successful outcomes.

10:15am – 10:30am Morning Tea

10:30am – 12:30pm Understanding Separation Related Behaviours Outside the Home
The well-known term “separation anxiety” became even more popular during the Covid pandemic. But is it always separation anxiety what everybody is talking about? And what does it look like when the dog is not in a home environment, but spending a day in daycare, or temporarily living in a shelter? Recognising first what the challenge is, and what considerations to have depending on the environment will be a game-changer when approaching this disorder.

12:30pm – 1:30pm Lunch Break

1:30pm – 2:30pm Avoiding the Bitey End of the Dog!
This session will be all about leash skills, strategies, and equipment to incorporate to ensure safety for yourself, other people, and other animals when working with dogs who have a history of aggression.

2:30pm – 2:45pm Afternoon Tea

2:45pm – 5:00pm Defensive Handling and Leash Skills
Mike will continue to build on the concepts from “Avoiding the Bitey End of the Dog!” and attendees will have the opportunity to practice defensive handling and leash skills. This is a fun and entertaining session that will teach you skills to stay safe!

SATURDAY - For the Dog Pros
(All sessions include time for Q&A)

9:00am - 10:15am Ready, Set, Emotion!
Mike will highlight the emotions that influence dog aggression, what they look like, and why they matter. This session will include videos of dogs displaying body language and behavior that is indicative of certain underlying emotions, and what we can do as practitioners to help our clients and their dogs in aggression cases.

10:15am – 10:30am Morning Tea

10:30am – 12:30pm What Nobody Told You About Separation Anxiety
Do you feel secretly uncomfortable when someone asks you to help them with their separation anxiety dog? Do you find yourself creating a behavior plan following a script that deep down doesn’t make sense to you? Knowing what separation anxiety is, and how to find out when a dog is suffering from it can be crucial when deciding how to move forward when helping a dog who is displaying separation related behaviors, and it will be the highlight of this presentation.

12:30pm – 1:30pm Lunch Break

1:30pm – 3:00pm Dog to Human Aggression Cases: Behaviour Change in Action
Mike will be showcasing real case studies, with video, demonstrating successful resolutions from start to finish with dogs who have a history of aggression. From safety to management to prognosis to behaviour change --- this presentation covers it all and highlights each step of the way through actual aggression cases!

3:00pm – 3:15pm Afternoon Tea

3:15pm – 5:00pm Dogs That Guard Their Owners
In this session, we will explore why dogs may display aggressive behaviour when they are near their owner and another dog or human approaches. Mike will discuss how to determine if a dog is truly guarding their person or if there is another reason for their behaviour. He will also dive into the behaviour change techniques that can be used to modify this type of aggression!

Welcome Event - 5:00pm - 6:00pm

SUNDAY

9:00am - 10:15am Client Consulting – Navigating Difficult Conversations, Improving Client Commitment, and Fostering Success

This presentation will take you through actual case studies with video from start to finish that include not only the importance of body language, but how following simple, and pragmatic training techniques can promote real progress, and take your behaviour modification approach to the next level, helping you succeed when working with separation anxiety dogs.

12:30pm – 1:30pm Lunch Break

1:30pm – 3:00pm Intra-household Dog to Dog Aggression Cases: Behaviour Change in Action
Dogs that live under the same roof and fight with one another can be one of the most difficult types of aggression cases to work with, let alone live with! Behaviour change plans for working with intra-household dog to dog aggression, with real case examples, will be showcased in this session.

3:00pm – 3:15pm Afternoon Tea

3:15pm – 5:00pm Ruh Roh! Emergency Handling Techniques
