A very special collaboration that’s been brewing over the past few months between The Locavore and Great State Aleworks is finally coming to life & we’re clearly beer-y excited!!!
Presenting the FIRST EVER Millet Tap Takeover, an unforgettable evening exploring millets through the medium of beer, food & conversation, at our favourite bar, Bonobo in Mumbai!
This exciting event will not only bring together all five of Great State's limited edition Millet Beers under one roof, but as a special treat, we will be launching Great State Aleworks’ sixth millet beer in collaboration with The Locavore called Salt of the Earth. It is brewed with jowar sourced from our #TLPartner producer Tillage and fresh Cashew Fruit.
But that's not all! Your taste buds are in for a treat with a delicious millet-centred menu crafted by the Cooking Lab volunteers from our Millet Revival Project with Rainmatter Foundation. We’ll be serving a wide array of dishes celebrating millets — from tacos and bowls to desserts and drinks!

4:00 to 5:00 pm | Behind the Label Art Discussion
The labels of every beer in the GSA Millet Beer Series have been created in collaboration with incredible visual artists from around India. And the sixth and latest in the series is no exception. Join us in conversation with Shraddha and Lakham Sawant Bhonsle of the Sawantwadi Palace, who represent the team of traditional Ganjifa and Lacquerwork artisans with whom we have created the label for the newest millet beer of this series.
5:00 to 6:00 pm | Brewing with Millets 101: Handbook Release
Great State Aleworks is publishing an open-source handbook on brewing millet beers with the support of The Locavore’s Millet Revival Project. This aims to be a valuable resource for other breweries across India to adopt millets in their beers in small and big ways. We will introduce this handbook to brewers and invited industry members at the Millet Beer Tap Takeover at Bonobo, Mumbai, on the 4th of June 2023.
Physical copies of the Brewing with Millets Handbook will be available on request at the event for members of the beverage industry. Digital copies will be available for download on the Great State Aleworks website shortly. A brain-teasing, millet-centered pub quiz will put your knowledge to the test while immersing you in the cozy atmosphere of your favourite watering hole.
Picture this: you and your team, huddled around a table, with pints in hand and minds primed for some millet-themed trivia. But wait, there's a twist! Instead of confining the questions to a sheet of paper, we've hidden clues and answers all around the bar. Get ready to explore and unravel the millet mysteries scattered in every nook and cranny.
Post the session, the bar takes focus and it's millet beers and food all around!
