ABOUT MONTANA DRIVE:
Since 1979, more than 18,000 people have learned to be better drivers and how to handle typical driving risks such as skidding, veering off road, and avoiding obstacles. Training lasts just one day, but the skills learned can last a lifetime. The cost of a one-day workshop is less than a crunched bumper! Sign up in February to take a one-day workshop in June, July, or early August.

Montana DRIVE One-Day Summer Workshops are scheduled only in the summer.
The one-day workshop includes two hours of classroom instruction and five to six hours of behind-the-wheel maneuvers on a closed raceway track near the Lewistown Airport. Each workshop is limited to 12 drivers with 4 instructors, so every driver benefits from individual attention and has hours of hands-on practice behind the wheel of the skid car, school bus, pickup truck, or ambulance. Drivers learn to respond safely to typical driving risks, gaining confidence and skill.

ADULT WORKSHOPS: Registration opens February 2, 2026 at 8 AM for the adult workshops that begin in June and conclude mid August. Each one-day workshop is limited to 12 adult drivers. Adult workshops cost is $410 per participant. Visit the website to view available space, dates, and REGISTER ONLINE!

TEEN WORKSHOPS: Registration opens March 2nd, 2026 at 8 AM for teen workshops that begin July 6th and conclude July 11th. Each one-day workshop is limited to 12 teen drivers between 15 and 19 years old. Teen workshops cost is $390 per participant. All teen registrations are subsidized by a State Farm Grant Scholarship. Out of pocket cost for teens is $210. Teen drivers with at least six months of driving experience will get the most out of this workshop. Teens must be at least 15 years old with a valid driver license to attend the Teen Workshop. This advanced driver education workshop is not a replacement for novice driver education, but gives the young driver the opportunity to safely practice risky driving conditions on a closed, specially designed track. Young adults up to age 19 are welcome to attend and apply for the scholarship.
SECOND-TIMERS? Young drivers who have already taken a Montana DRIVE Teen Workshop and wish to take it again are asked to wait until June 1 to register, so first-time applicants have a chance to attend the teen workshop.

DRIVER EDUCATION TEACHERS: If you are a driver education teacher wanting to take the workshop for college credit, please contact our office to schedule BEFORE you register online. Additional fees to MSU-Northern apply.
Adult Registration Opens 2/2/26.
Teen Registration Opens 3/2/26.

The Montana DRIVE facility is three miles west of Lewistown, MT and adjacent to the Lewistown Airport. The classroom is located at 1500 Raceway Drive and housed in a blue building constructed in 2016, next to the track beyond the Lewistown Raceway. Turn off Highway 87 onto Upper Cottonwood Creek Road (Torgerson’s Case Equipment building is on the corner). Drive one mile down this road and then turn left at the Lewistown Raceway sign. Look for signs with the blue MT DRIVE logo. Follow the white line guiding you two miles past the raceway to the blue building and school buses in the distance.
