The IAA November workshop will focus on Strengthening Your Craft through Breaking Bad Habits. This workshop is for all levels, Beginner to Advanced.
We will cover:
*Identifying Bad Habits
*How some stage habits work against you on camera
*Strengthening self-awareness
*Freeing yourself of patterns
*Physical habits and mental habits that inhibit authenticity
*Identifying blocks to emotional access
This workshop is designed to help the actor become more self-aware and identify bad habits both physically and mentally that may work against the actor's ability to deliver authentic and multi-layered work. Beginners can benefit from the exercises and information as well as seasoned professionals who may not be booking next level work.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
For over 40 years Jim Dougherty (
http://imdb.me/jimdougherty) has worked on over 100 films and television shows in capacities ranging from actor to post production and has also performed in over 300 theatrical productions.
Jim is the chief instructor at both the Indy Actors Academy (
http://www.indyactorsacademy.com/) and Online Actors Academy (
https://onlineactorsacademy.com/) where he approaches the craft much like the blended martial arts, incorporating a variety of techniques and philosophies creating his own unique approach to the craft and helping the student discover what works most effectively for them to develop their role and serve the story.
Jim studied theatre and film at Indiana University and later went on to pursue the craft in Chicago where he worked for Victory Gardens and Body Politic Theatres. While living in Chicago, Jim trained as a stuntman under John Hicks Pearce and became the assistant coordinator for The Chicago Stunt Team.
Jim has shared the screen with names such as Jimmy Smits, Margo Martindale, Gil Bellows, Clint Howard, Lew Temple, Marc Menchaca and Kevin Spacey.

Jim's method has been developed from his diversified background, his own training and experiences on set in a variety of positions.
Many of Jim's students have appeared on Network shows, streaming series as well as localized commercial and industrial projects.
