Serious science. Seriously fun.
World-class veterinary education? Absolutely—but what if your post-conference wind-down includes an outdoor onsen, sake in hand? Because your CPD doesn’t have to feel like work.

From 23 Feb- 2 March 2026, we’re swapping stuffy conference halls for steaming mountain onsens in Nozawa Onsen, Japan—a postcard-perfect village in the Nagano Alps.

Mornings and evenings are for education, delivered by leading experts: practical, relevant, and interactive. But your days are yours. Spend them carving up the legendary Japanese powder, exploring the myriad of local eateries, or wandering snowy laneways lined with centuries-old bathhouses.

We’ll debrief over izakaya dinners, late-night onsen session, and a Japanese edition of our legendary celebration night.

Our Location
Tucked away in the Japanese Alps, Nozawa Onsen is a postcard-perfect mountain village where traditional culture meets world-class snow. Famous for its natural hot springs, powdery slopes, and charming old-world atmosphere, Nozawa offers a unique blend of authentic Japan and alpine adventure. The perfect backdrop for our winter conference escape.

Join us for:

Skiing and Snowboarding: Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort is one of Japan’s oldest and most beloved ski areas, offering expansive terrain, deep powder, and panoramic views, plus the rare treat of skiing back to the village through winding forest trails.

Onsen Culture: With over a dozen free public bathhouses (soto-yu), centuries-old hot spring tradition is alive and well here. Slip into a steaming mineral bath and let the snowflakes fall around you—recovery doesn’t get more relaxing.

Snow Monkeys: Take a day trip to the nearby Jigokudani Monkey Park to witness Japan’s famous snow monkeys soaking in their own hot springs. It’s as magical (and mildly relatable) as it sounds.

Local Food and Sake: Warm up with steaming bowls of Nozawa’s signature oyaki dumplings and nabe hot pots, or sip your way through local sake breweries. Izakaya dining here is cosy, hearty, and unforgettable.

Snowshoeing and Village Wanders: Off the skis? Wander cobbled lanes between centuries-old temples, lantern-lit alleyways, and boutique shops, or head into the forest for snowshoe adventures with a side of serenity.

Family-Friendly Fun: From sled parks to beginner slopes, Nozawa caters beautifully to families with younger children or novice snow-lovers.

Our conference home is the exquisite Ryokan Sakaya, a traditional Japanese inn that blends luxury with authenticity. Tatami rooms, gourmet meals, and its own private onsen—an experience in itself.
