A little bit of history
It's been more than 10 years since the "last" Oahu Blues Bash at Anna's.
Starting in 2008, when the club was called Anna Bannana's, we had three Oahu Blues Bashes before that "last" one on Valentine’s Day, 2010. We called it the "last" because we thought the club was going to close. Instead, it only changed ownership but never closed.
Bands appearing at those earlier Oahu Blues Bashes included Bluzilla, Friends of Adam, James Ronstadt & the Dynamic Shuffle Kings, Lovechile, Northside Art & the Mixers, Tell Mama, the whaley boys, Corey & Boogie, Jeff Said No!, the Michael Conlan Blues Band, Downtown Charley and the Humbones, the Dave Young Band, Hot City Blues Band, Chris Vandercook with Mark Prados and Ernie Cruz Sr.
Now the club is called Anna O'Brien's, and the Oahu Blues Bash is finally back to celebrate the blues again, Hawaii style, on Sunday, May 28, Memorial Day weekend.
If this one goes well, we'll do another, since we couldn't get all of Hawaii's hot blues talent into this one show.
To see the hot blues talent that will be playing at this one show, scroll through through the photos below.
At the bottom there is a map to help you find Anna's, in case you don't already know where it is.
Regulars know that it's in beautiful Moiliili, right next to the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, across from Moiliili Neighborhood Park and a big Longs Drugs store, and not far from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
