​​​​OBERLIN COLLEGE IMPACT INVESTMENT SYMPOSIUM
Hosted by the Oberlin Investment CommitteeOberlin Investment Office, and the Impact Investment Advisory Group,  the second edition of the Oberlin Impact Investment Symposium will take place virtually on April 23, 2025. It will engage participants in structural and exploratory discussions on various critical themes at the forefront of sustainable investing for college endowments. 

The symposium aims to help those entrusted with the growth and management of endowments to navigate the complex issue of fiduciary roles and responsibilities within impact-focused portfolios, guiding participants in understanding their role as stewards of ethical investments. 

Further themes that will be explored include What the AI Investment Boom Means for Emissions Reductions, Targets, and Goals, Microfinance and CDFIs: Recent Developments and Opportunities for Impact, Burning Questions to Ask Your Investment Manager
, and Navigating Impact Investing Amidst Increased Monitoring. Together, we aim to shine a spotlight on broader sustainability efforts related to climate change and the journey for educational institutions toward net-zero goals.

Working closely with leading organizations, the network engages leaders and key stakeholders from higher education, foundations, business, and nonprofits. It provides opportunities for learning and education, peer networking, convening, thought leadership, and information exchange around various strategies (e.g., ESG integration, impact investing, and shareholder engagement).

Session 1 | What the AI Investment Boom Means for Emissions Reductions, Targets, and Goals
Faith Taylor
SVP, Global Sustainability and Social Impact Officer at Kyndryl

Faith Taylor is the Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability Officer for Kyndryl, covering ESG.  Kyndryl is the world’s largest IT infrastructure company, with 240 data centers in +60 countries and over 60,000 employees, and it has $16 billion in sales. She is responsible for building and overseeing the company’s programs that ladder up to their strategic priorities. In Kyndryl’s first 3 years since spinning off from IBM, they announced a Net Zero to 2040 goal validated by the Science Based Target Initiative and have achieved a 7% reduction in their Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions. Further, they released Kyndryl’s Corporate Citizenship Reports outlining their commitments across all of their strategic priorities, and ISG has named them an IT industry leader who delivers sustainability services and products to global customers.  They achieved silver certification from EcoVadis for their ESG performance, placing them in the top 15% of companies in their industry. They were also named to Newsweek’s 2024 list of the Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces.  

Before joining Kyndryl, Faith was the Environmental Social Governance (ESG) leader for Tesla, working with their board, senior leadership, and associates to develop their program.  During her tenure at Wyndham Worldwide, she built the company's ESG programs from the ground up. Under her leadership, Wyndham became the hospitality industry’s Dow Jones Sustainability World Leader and was listed as one of the Most Ethical Companies in the World by Ethisphere and Newsweek’s Greenest Company. Faith co-led the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Sustainability group and published the industry’s first ESG reporting guideline and framework.  She is currently on the Board of Directors for CMC Energy Services, a private company founded in 1977 and one of the largest woman-run energy efficiency companies in the U.S.  She was President of the Women’s New Jersey Performing Art Center board, where they have raised over $56 million for arts education and community development in the last 25 years. Sustainability Magazine named her one of the top 10 ESG women leaders in 2024.  She is a graduate of Stanford University and has an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Mark Pinsky '79
Founding Partner of CDFI Friendly America, President FiveFour Advisors.

Mark Pinsky is a pioneering leader in community development finance, dedicated to aligning capital with justice and expanding economic opportunity for under-invested communities. As the Founding Partner of CDFI Friendly America, he works to connect the $500 billion Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) industry with under-resourced people and places.

With a career spanning strategic consulting, financial innovation, and advocacy, Mark also leads FiveFour Advisors, where he advises organizations at the intersection of money and purpose. His impact includes the creation of The CDFI Fund, The Equity Equivalent (EQ2) investment product, The NEXT Awards for Opportunity Finance, and the AERIS Ratings System—all instrumental in shaping the modern CDFI landscape.

From 1995 to 2016, Mark served as President & CEO of Opportunity Finance Network (OFN), where he was a leading national voice for mission-driven finance. He is also an accomplished author and thought leader, co-writing Organized Money: How Progressives Can Leverage the Financial System to Work for Them, Not Against Them and Opportunity For All: The Story of CDFIs.

A sought-after public speaker and strategist, Mark continues to champion innovative financial solutions that drive social impact and economic justice.
Session 3 |  Burning Questions to Ask your Investment Manager, Tara Doyle and Eli Dalven
Tara Doyle
Senior Vice President, Boston Common Asset Management 

Tara manages a portfolio of institutional clients and is responsible for expanding the Boston Common’s relationships with the firm’s intermediary partners. She also works closely with the marketing team to highlight Boston Common’s leadership across the impact spectrum. She is a member of the firm’s Asset Allocation Committee.

Tara has worked in business development functions across the financial sector since 2011, including roles in private equity and fixed income. She joined Boston Common after building out the business development and investor relations program at a DC-based sustainable investing firm, Terra Alpha Investment.

Tara is a lifelong distance runner who takes pride in giving back in her free time. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Hero Dogs, a Maryland-incorporated nonprofit that raises, trains, and places service dogs and other highly skilled canines with wounded veterans and first responders. She previously served on the board of America SCORES New York.  Tara received her BA from Middlebury College and her MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Eli Dalven '16
Impact Investing and Governance Specialist at Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Trust.

Eli Dalven, Impact Investing and Governance Specialist at Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge Trust, helps fiduciaries and investors direct capital toward projects that generate financial, social, and environmental returns. He is responsible for administering approximately $70 million of high-impact investments for private clients of the Sustainability Group, part of LWC. Since its founding in 1987, the Sustainability Group has helped clients align their portfolios with their values through a combination of active stock selection, corporate engagement and shareholder advocacy, and high-impact investing in community development organizations. In addition, Eli leads the firm’s corporate governance research efforts, helping to ensure that proxy votes align with LWC’s Proxy Voting Guidelines.
 
A graduate of Oberlin College, Eli has long been committed to sustainability and economic justice. As an economics and politics double major, he was involved in a variety of student organizations that focused on labor rights, environmental justice, and responsible investment—the latter helped Oberlin College establish an Impact Investing Platform within its endowment, which in turn, led to the work of the Impact Investing Advisory Group (IIAG) today. His passion for mission-driven finance stems from a belief that capital allocation can and should address critical global challenges
