Join us for another session of PetMedic Pathways, a free monthly STEM series designed for high school students interested in animal health, science, and careers in veterinary medicine.

Whether you dream of becoming a veterinarian, veterinary technician, emergency and critical care specialist, or simply enjoy science and solving real-world problems, this interactive program will introduce you to the fascinating field of veterinary toxicology.

February's Topic:
Veterinary Toxicology

Discover how veterinary professionals identify, diagnose, and treat pets exposed to toxins. Learn how science, chemistry, biology, and critical thinking come together to solve poisoning cases and provide life-saving care.

We'll explore some of the most common toxins affecting pets, including household products, medications, toxic foods, plants, and environmental hazards.

By the end of the session, students should be able to:

• Explain what veterinary toxicology is and why it is important.
• Identify common toxins that can affect dogs and cats.
• Understand how veterinarians investigate and diagnose poisoning cases.
• Describe the different treatment options used for toxic exposures.
• Work together like a veterinary team to solve a toxicology case using evidence and clinical reasoning.
  
  

Students are welcome to attend one session or the entire series throughout the school year. Each workshop stands on its own, so you won't fall behind if you miss one. Earn a Certificate of Completion for each session or a special certificate for the series if you attend all nine sessions.

This program is for high school students (grades 9–12) with an interest in STEM, biology, chemistry, veterinary science, emergency medicine, forensic science, or healthcare.
