Protect Our Rivers and Denver Trout Unlimited are teaming up for a major effort to transform Phil Milstein Park — and we’d love your help!
This stretch of the South Platte River has become one of Denver’s most overlooked riverfront spaces, and together, we have an opportunity to give the park some much-needed love and help create the future it was always meant to have.
Join us on Saturday, October 17 for a morning of hands-on projects throughout the park, including a river and park cleanup, weeding and invasive tree removal.
When you register, you can choose the project you’d like to help with. We’ll wrap up around noon, then head to Odell Brewing Sloan’s Lake for a free celebratory beer and a chance to celebrate what we accomplished together!

What to Bring
Dress casually and wear closed-toed shoes. Waders are also encouraged! Bring a water bottle and sunscreen.

Parking & Where to Meet
Frog Hollow Park is the closest access point to Phil Milstein Park and will serve as our meeting location.
Please arrive at 10:00 AM and park at Frog Hollow, where plenty of parking will be available.
When you arrive, look for a Protect Our Rivers team member to check in. From there, we’ll walk together a short distance to Phil Milstein Park, where we’ll grab supplies, kick things off, and begin the cleanup.

The Game Plan
We’ll kick things off at Phil Milstein Park with a quick safety talk before heading out to pick up trash along the river corridor.
We’ll meet back around noon to weigh our trash, celebrate our collective impact, and snap a group photo!
Then we’ll head over to Odell Sloan’s Lake for a free celebratory beer!

Phil Milstein Park Effort
Once envisioned as a Denver showpiece, Phil Milstein Park has become one of the city’s most overlooked riverfront spaces. This year, Denver Trout Unlimited stepped in and officially adopted the park through Denver Parks and Recreation’s Adopt-a-Park program and has committed to monthly cleanups spring through fall to care for the park and surrounding South Platte River corridor.
But the vision goes beyond picking up trash. DTU is working with Denver Parks and Recreation on long-term improvements, including native plantings and infrastructure upgrades, with the goal of bringing new life and investment to this often-overlooked stretch of the South Platte.
The effort is part of DTU’s broader work to improve the South Platte throughout Denver — from regular river cleanups to pilot in-stream trash booms that capture debris before it travels downstream. Thank you for supporting their efforts to revive Phil Milstein Park!
