Join us March 19th at Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, WA for an IN-PERSON, workshop on Rockfall Attenuators led by industry experts:
- Tim Shevlin, PG: Tim Shevlin, has 20+ years' experience in engineering geology. He serves as Geobrugg's Technical Director of Sales and Marketing for the Northwest USA & Hawaii, focusing on rockfall attenuators.
- Remo Dudler: Remo Dudler, a civil engineer, contributes to Geobrugg's R&D in Romanshorn, Switzerland, focusing on rockfall attenuators and related technologies.
Special Guests:
- Brent Black, CEG: With 30+ years as an Engineering Geologist in the Pacific Northwest, Mr. Black specializes in site investigation, rockfall evaluations, and construction quality assurance. He's known for fostering relationships and lecturing nationally.
- Benjamin George, PE, CEG: Mr. George, with 20+ years' experience, specializes in rock slope stabilization and geotechnical instrumentation. He leads LT's rope access team, managing projects like transportation infrastructure and hydroelectric facilities.
Topics will include:
- Considerations for the application of Rockfall Attenuators and potential need for additional risk reduction measures.
- Challenges during site reconnaissance with field layout and initial system design (i.e., alignment(s), post locations, post types, and post support systems).
- Considerations for construction observation (“inspection”), system field layout, and on-slope access.
- Performance history and limitations of Rockfall Attenuators.
- Comparison of Rockfall Attenuators to classic rockfall drapes and standard flexible rockfall barriers.
- Design challenges of describing and specifying Rockfall Attenuator behavior wherein both the rotational and translational component of rockfall must be considered, and the performance of Attenuator Systems that never stop the rockfall.
- History of full-scale testing of attenuators
- Development of a NEW Kinetic based dimensioning concept that addresses the rotational and translational component dynamics.
CLICK HERE to register for a field trip March 20th, departing from Heathman Lodge. Stops include Multnomah Falls, Starvation Creek State Park and more, with lunch at Everybody's Brewing. Spots are limited to 15.
Both events are completely free to attend.
