This July 21-23 we look forward to coming together with other seekers, thinkers, and leaders to co-create an unforgettable experience and envision a psychedelic community in service to all.

The Psanctum Conference will feature talks from both local and regional experts, as well as workshops, a marketplace, musical performances, and an immersive art experience. We are excited to be hosting our conference at Portland’s visionary art and healing community center, The Haven / JaJaPDX.

Our speakers will cover a wide range of topics including: indigenous tradition and plant preservation, Solanaceae plants in history and magical practice, sacred mushroom technologies, entheogens and the creative process, psychedelics and the future of religion, ketamine, MDMA, & psilocybin best practices and integration, spiritual use of cannabis, building healthy psychedelic communities, insights into new Oregon psilocybin laws, plant medicine cultivation, and much more!

Proceeds from the conference will go towards the Psanctum Psychedelic Education Center & Psychedelic Therapy Fund which provides grants for those seeking psychedelic-assisted therapies but for whom cost is a barrier.

Speakers & Panelists

Dennis McKenna has conducted research in ethnopharmacology for over 40 years. He is a founding board member of the Heffter Research Institute, and was a key investigator on the Hoasca Project, the first biomedical investigation of ayahuasca. He is the younger brother of Terence McKenna. From 2000 to 2017, he taught courses on Ethnopharmacology and Plants in Human affairs as an adjunct Assistant Professor in the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota. He emigrated to Canada in the spring of 2019 together with his wife Sheila, and now resides in Abbotsford.

Since 2019, he has been working with colleagues to manifest a long-term dream: the McKenna Academy of Natural Philosophy, a non-profit organization founded in the spirit of the ancient Mystery Schools and dedicated to the study of plant medicines, consciousness, intelligence in nature, preservation of indigenous knowledge and a re-visioning of humanity's relationship with Nature. Dr. McKenna is author or co-author of 6 books and over 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.



The Dank Duchess is an international Hashish Consultant, Cannabis Cultivator, and Public Speaker using all available media to achieve her mission to help spread cannabis and psychedelic wellness awareness globally. With 18 years of cultivation and 7 years of hashmaking experience to her credit, she has dedicated the last 7 years to educating​ hundreds of thousands of people via print, film, and social media about high quality cannabis and hashish. Her hash articles and tutorials have been published in Weed World UK, Weed World Italia, Cannabis Now, Skunk Magazine and in Ed Rosenthal’s books. Duchess has also made several on screen appearances including Seasons 1 and 3 of VICELAND’s Bong Appetit.


Stephen Gray is a teacher and writer on spiritual subjects and sacramental medicines. He has worked extensively with Tibetan Buddhist traditions, the Native American Church, and with entheogenic medicines. The author of Returning to Sacred World: A Spiritual Toolkit for the Emerging Reality, he is also a conference and workshop organizer, leader, and speaker as well as a part-time photographer and music composer under the artist name Keary. He lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.


Emily York is a Program Analyst with the Oregon Psilocybin Services team. She supports policy and program development, communications, and community engagement for creating safe and equitable access to psilocybin services in Oregon. Before joining the team, she led the Oregon Climate and Health Program, local policy work in Portland’s City Hall, and advocacy work with the Coalition for a Livable Future. She has a public health degree and sustainability certificate from Portland State University. She has two children and a life-long connection to the Pacific Northwest.


Coby Michael, author of The Poison Path Herbal, is an occultist and cultivator of entheogenic plants. He contributes to the Pagan Archives at Valdosta University, writes regularly for The House of Twigs, and maintains a blog, Poisoner’s Apothecary, on Patheos Pagan. He teaches classes and online workshops on plant magic, baneful herbs, and traditional witchcraft. He also runs Staff & Snake Apothecary in Gulfport, FL; the brick-and-mortar home and workshop of The Poisoner’s Apothecary, which supports the vision of connecting people and plants in the local community.


Acacea Lewis is an Entheogenic Researcher & Educator and the Founder of Divine Master Alchemy LLC, and Divine Master University, a school for Entheogenic Cultural Literacy and Applied Naturopathic Medicine Research. Acacea is a student of Baba Kilindi Iyi, and teachers from other systems, as well as an independent researcher and lifetime student of the psilocybin mushroom. She shares her first-hand experiences and provides undergraduate-level research papers, books, and some medical research to help bridge and integrate the fields of medical science, spiritual systems, and cultural anthropology.


Antonio Cuevas is Cacique (chief) of a Yucayeke (an Afro-Taino village) in New York City. He is a medicine man with a strong Taino lineage, originally from the island of Puerto Rico. He is best known for his hands-on involvement in helping awaken his own community by uncovering their resilient strengths. He is a guide and practitioner and works with people one-on-one, in group settings, social and sacred medicine circles – locally, nation-wide, and throughout the world.


Martin W. Ball, Ph.D., is a writer, independent publisher, nondual guide and consultant, visionary artist, and musician. He attended UC Santa Barbara, earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in Religious Studies with an emphasis on Native American traditions, and the intersection of science, religion, and entheogens.
With the release of Mushroom Wisdom (2006), Ball started his career as a public advocate and speaker for entheogenic reform and education. He hosts the Entheogenic Evolution podcast and organized the Exploring Psychedelics conference. He teaches Religious Studies at Southern Oregon University in Ashland.


Baba Masha, M.D., is a pediatrician and OB/GYN with a doctorate in medicine and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. She has hosted the Radio Psychedelix podcast, in Russian, since 2013, and published Microdosing Amanita Muscaria: Creativity, Healing, and Recovery with the Sacred Mushroom in 2022.


P.D. Newman is an internationally recognized author and lecturer specializing in the use of entheogenic compounds in magico-religious settings. A member of both the Masonic Fraternity and the Society of Rosicrucians, his book, Alchemically Stoned: The Psychedelic Secret of Freemasonry, explores the use of the powerful psychedelic compound, DMT, by a number of eighteenth century Masonic Alchemists. He has additionally been published in a number of periodicals, including The Transactions of the Mississippi Lodge of Research, The Scottish Rite Journal, Knight Templar Magazine, Ad Lucem, The Square, Rocky Mountain Mason, Fraternal Review, Invisible College, Dragibus, Ethnomycological Journals, etc. And, in 2016, Newman was awarded for his placing in the worldwide Scottish Rite Journal essay contest.


Jesse Sweet serves as Policy Analyst for the Oregon Psilocybin Services Section with the Oregon Health Authority. He assists with development of policy for Oregon’s first-in-the-nation program for production of psilocybin and sale of psilocybin products and services. He supports the Oregon Psilocybin Advisory Board, drafts administrative rules and contributes to program implementation. Prior to joining the Oregon Health Authority, he worked for the Oregon Liquor Control Commission on alcohol and cannabis policy. He holds degrees from University of Oregon School of Law and Oberlin College.


Sean Manseau is the author of The Phonomancer Player's Handbook and A.P. Psychedelics: Going Beyond Set and Setting to Achieve Visionary Virtuosity, as well as the spiritual autobiography Spotify the Gnostics, Here's the First Church of David Bowie, the coaching manual By the Numbers: A Practical Method for Instructing Multi-Modal GPP Training. He lives in Portland, OR, where he is Director of Training for the St. David Bowie EntheoGym, the world's first entheogenic fitness training facility.


Eimi OstaraMoon, the witch and bee steward behind Poison and Bee, started her journey on the Poison Path with a handful of Datura inoxia seeds, and a dream of having her own Poison Garden on her farm in rural Texas. With the help of her honey bees, the garden has since grown to include baneful allies such as different datura varieties, henbane, deadly nightshade and mandrake, as well as various magical, medicinal and culinary herbs. As a practitioner of alchemical herbalism, plant spirit medicine and natural beekeeping, Eimi focuses her work with poisonous plants and honey bees by understanding their nature and needs, and developing a harmonious symbiotic relationship between plants, insects and humans. “Poison as medicine”, both physically and spiritually, is the guiding principle that Eimi follows on the Poison Path.


Dr. Alissa Bazinet is a licensed clinical psychologist in Portland, Oregon. She is a co-founder of Sequoia Center, a nonprofit clinic aiming to provide affordable & accessible psychedelic-assisted therapy and related services to individuals from historically underrepresented communities and those most in need. In her practice, Dr. Bazinet specializes in evaluation and treatment of individuals with complex or co-occurring mental health conditions, such as complex trauma, PTSD, addiction, Bipolar Disorder, major depression, anxiety, and chronic pain/illness. She has extensive training in neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessment, as well as in providing cognitive rehabilitation and mindfulness training for individuals with traumatic brain injuries or neurological disorders.


Lesley Burke is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR) in private practice. She has been licensed for 10 years and in private practice for 5 years. She works primarily with people who have experienced complex trauma including abuse and neglect in childhood, sexual assault, and religious trauma. She is trained in MDMA Assisted Psychotherapy through MAPS and a volunteer for Zendo Project and White Bird Rock Medicine (organizations that provide psychedelic harm reduction and peer support services at festivals and events).


Kevin Landau is an attorney who has been admitted to Bars of both New York and Michigan. Having a special interest in psychedelics and their place within the law, Landau recently completed his Master’s from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy where his thesis focused on the historical context, medicinal properties, political angst, and future social, economic, and mental health implications of Psilocybin. Landau has a special interest in the benefits of controlled therapy for veterans, and how emerging scientific and evidentiary-based principles concerning psilocybin’s medicinal and economic benefits to society, are ripe for immediate application. He is concerned with salient policy options that may enhance our collective understanding of the human mind and determine whether federal legalization of psychedelics such as psilocybin will be a benefit in treating mental health conditions including depression, addiction, PTSD, and anxiety, while also benefiting state and local economies across the nation.


Jenna Kluwe has a passion for helping folks with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) using psychedelics. With a BA in Psychology and MA in counseling, she practiced therapy for 15 years in a variety of settings and specialized in treating BPD and PTSD. After years of unofficially helping clients integrate their psychedelic experiences and seeing how helpful this medicine was for clients (and herself), she completed a certification course to become a psychedelic integration coach. She now has the honor of turning her passion into a career as the co-owner of Inner Dimensions Integration, LLC and The Journey Service Center.


Cristie Strongman is a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City. She advocates for improving the understanding of non-ordinary states of consciousness as an avenue for the healing of trauma, and for the exploration of the self. She completed a dual Masters degree in Mental Health and Counseling Psychology at Columbia University as well as a Masters in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, where her studies focused primarily on ritual and urban shamanism. She is a certified therapist by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. She is currently working with MAPS on FDA-approved clinical studies, as a co-investigator and co-therapist with MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD.


Morgan Paige is a poet, visual artist, and entrepreneur living in Washington State. After co-owning multiple businesses including a cannabis dispensary for 6 years and a mobile organic juice truck for 3 years, she recently moved into the woods in Kalama, WA to start a Private Membership Association centered around creative community, psychedelic integration, intimate events, workshops, and artist residencies. Since 2020, Paige joined former Clark County Poet Laureate (2013-2017) Christopher Luna, as co-host of Vancouver’s beloved Ghost Town Poetry open mic which has been a pillar in the community since 2004. Recently, she joined a collective of visionary artists and healers as a poet in residence at The Haven PDX.


Rev. Merrill Ward, Ep. Gn. is an ordained Gnostic priest, and teacher and student of the religious-spiritual philosophies of Thelema and Hermeticism, with a special emphasis on entheogenic techniques and sacraments used for attaining direct access to the Divine. He has co-authored a comprehensive “Best Practices & Integration Guide” for working with entheogenic sacraments, and is the founder and Executive Director of Awakening Divinity Ministries.


While art had always been a part of his life, Danny Stephens became a full-time artist at the beginning of 2018. He wanted to live a creative life through painting, art education, and a love for building community.
The result was The Haven, an Art and Healing center with studios, a gallery, an event space, and an assortment of other elements of the psychedelic Renaissance (e.g., assisted therapies, healing arts, massage, Kambo, and Reiki). The Haven aims to provide the same transformative experiences of festival culture to the residents of the urban environment.


Moksha Kusa Marquardt is an artist, and drum maker from Seattle, Washington. He studied commercial art in Seattle in the early 90s. Although he had an introduction to painting at that time, he is mostly self-taught.
Undoubtedly growing up in the PNW has had the deepest influence on his work, as is evident from his subject matter which consistently depicts nature as a well-balanced, magical and mysterious system of ever-evolving life and death.


Justin Potts is a multidisciplinary artist based in Portland, Oregon. His work is fueled by a deep fascination with existence and a fervent belief in the primacy of imagination. He's made things obsessively since youth and has lived and worked in New Hope, PA, Sedona, AZ, and for the past 15 years, Portland, OR. He hopes to make a wider band of reality available for experience and to contribute to the creative inspiration of any and all who take in his work.
