Ernie Phillips
Ernie is a mechanical engineer with over 40 years of experience in the power generation and pump industry.  Ernie started his career as a service specialist for Byron Jackson Pump Division (now Flowserve) and then moved to Johnston Pump Company (now Sulzer) as the manager of engineering for the nuclear division. Following Johnston Pump Company, he was the owner of Pump & Vibration Consultants, INC., which provided machinery diagnostics, balancing, predictive maintenance services, troubleshooting and pump design to a wide range of industries. Prior to joining RER, he was the senior program manager for pumps, rotating equipment and predictive maintenance for Tennessee Valley Authority.  

His background in the pump industry, as both a troubleshooter and designer has given him unique insight into the causes and corrections of pump problems. Ernie covers the Tennessee Valley, surrounding states and key nuclear facilities throughout the United States.

Ernie earned his BSME from Auburn University.
Rex McCarty
Rex has been an asset in the power generation industry for over 30 years. Rex’s maintenance career with a major utility developed his skillset in project management, budgeting, best practices in maintenance, overhaul management, troubleshooting and corrective action plans. This experience allows Rex to provide his customers with real “hands on” support.  Rex supports fossil/hydro/biomass generation, pulp and paper and other industrial pump applications in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Northern Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Arizona.

Rex has earned a BS and an MBA from University of Kentucky and Nova Southeastern University.

Scott Sterr
Scott is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of experience in the pump, power generation, water and waste water industries. Scott started his career at ITT/Xylem in application engineering working with consultants and customers and later in technical services engineering working at project sites. Following his OEM experience, he worked for EPS performing engineering, sales, and project management duties. Following that position, he designed irrigation stations and performed field vibration testing for Watertronics. Scott covers Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, and Canada for RER.  

Scott graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a BSME.
