R.A.M.P. will be running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours for the Women’s Sports Foundation. Our take on the 4x4x48 Challenge reflects the values championed by the Women’s Sports Foundation—encouraging participation, resilience, leadership, and community through sport. By bringing runners together to complete 48 miles over 48 hours, our run club is creating opportunities for women and allies to challenge themselves, support one another, and demonstrate the transformative power of sport.
By age 14, girls drop out of sports at twice the rate of boys, with research indicating that up to 64% of girls quit by their mid-teens. When young girls and women stay in sports, they are more likely to take leadership positions and develop skills such as teamwork, discipline, and goal setting. It significantly decreases their chances of depression by 30%. It builds confidence and self-esteem and creates a foundation for young girls and women to believe that they are smart enough and capable of anything.
WSF Mission:
- Expanding access to sport and physical activity for women and girls.
- Building leadership skills through athletic participation.
- Creating inclusive and supportive athletic communities.
- Supporting athlete development through grants and resources.
- Advocating for equity and opportunity in sports at every level.
