We are reaching out to share a powerful and heartwarming story of determination and resilience. Many of you are familiar with the tragic event that occurred on June 17, 2021, in Upper St. Clair, a suburb of Pittsburgh. Jared Quinteros and his wife Kara were struck by a fallen tree limb while hiking. Jared survived the horrific accident; his beautiful wife Kara did not. Jared’s mental and physical life is forever changed now that he is bound to a wheelchair. Like many homes, Kara and Jared’s home was not accessible for someone in a wheelchair. Just to enter his home the steps needed to be replaced with a ramp. The bathroom needed to be remodeled which included a roll in shower. Doorways needed to be widened. And it doesn’t stop there… These adaptations cost significant sums of money. Stambrosky Homes in Bridgeville and P.J. Dick in Pittsburgh along with family and the community stepped up with an outpouring of resources. Everyday there are others like Jared who need your help.
Rebuild Better Together exists to help persons in the greater Pittsburgh and Baltimore metropolitan areas with spinal cord injuries (SCI) who have lost their spousal or family support by improving their quality of life. Jared recently joined the board of directors at RBT with a heart to give back to others in the SCI community who want to return to a home.
To build on Jared’s desire of giving back, RBT will be hosting “A Night at the Races” event. It will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Hopewell VFW Post #8805 138 Stone Quarry Road Aliquippa, PA 15001. This event will generate funds to help support RBT and our organization’s programs.
Will you help us cross the finish line?
Thank you in advance for bringing change to the SCI community!
