Good Dads Strong Schools
If you’re looking for a hands-on service project that is both recurring and performed before work, this is your perfect fit!
The volunteers for this hands-on service opportunity will assist with the administration of the Good Dads - Strong Schools Program at Watkins & Pittman schools. The typical tasks include welcoming dads and kids, distribute stickers and tickets for prizes, and help hand out materials for the lesson.
The Strong Schools program welcomes fathers and father figures to engage with their child at school. It promotes school attendance, school importance, and the father-child relationship. It also helps fathers build social capital with other fathers associated with the school. Research supports the importance of father engagement to a child's academic success, so volunteers helping with the program, supports positive education outcomes for children, especially in Springfield's Title 1 schools. Your participation will make a positive lasting impact to the community.
Number of volunteers needed: 5 to 7 for each school & each session.
Please be mindful that this is a recurring hands-on service project. We are hoping to keep a consistent core group of volunteers for each school session to deliver a seamless execution & experience of the program
The time commitment is 1 hour per session, starting at 6:45am at each school.
