WHY Xiii ROME?
Choosing Rome for our son's Bar Mitzvah isn't just about celebrating this significant milestone; it's about connecting with the deep and rich Jewish history embedded in the very fabric of this ancient city. The Jewish presence in Rome and the broader Roman Empire dates back over two millennia, marking a saga of interaction, growth, and resilience that spans from the era of the Roman Republic through the zenith of the Empire.

The roots of Jewish Rome trace back to migrations for economic opportunities and as a refuge from conflict in the land of Israel between the 4th and 1st centuries BCE. In Rome, the Jewish community didn't just survive; it thrived, becoming an integral part of the Roman tapestry. By the first century CE, Jews represented a significant portion of the Empire's population, with communities flourishing across Roman territories.

The historical narrative of Jews in Rome is intertwined with pivotal events: from General Pompey's conquest of Jerusalem in 63 BCE, the appointment of Herod the Great as "King of the Jews," to the tragic Jewish–Roman wars that led to the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Temple. These events, while marking periods of strife, also underscore the enduring spirit of the Jewish people.

Celebrating our son's Bar Mitzvah in Rome is a homage to our ancestors' journey through history. It's an opportunity to stand amidst the remnants of ancient Rome, reflecting on the perseverance and faith that have sustained the Jewish people through centuries. This celebration in Rome is not just a personal joy, but a tribute to our collective heritage and the timeless bond that connects us to Jews across history and geography.
