Silver Consolidated Schools is evaluating how best to invest bond funding in the future of its athletic facilities. Superintendent William Hawkins will provide an update on proposed artificial-turf and athletic-field projects, including potential improvements to the existing football and soccer field at Silver High School and the possible development of baseball and softball fields at La Plata Middle School.
Superintendent Hawkins will also explain why the district is reconsidering bond-funded improvements at the Ben Altamirano Sports Complex. The district must consider property ownership, long-term lease costs, student transportation, facility supervision, maintenance responsibilities, how frequently the fields can be used, and how bond funding can provide the greatest long-term benefit to students and taxpayers.
