This course is designed to educate all who participate in sports coverage, specifically certified athletic trainers, but also emergency medical service providers. We will be offering a comprehensive review of the new SCAT-6 guidelines along with reviewing heat guidelines, air quality guidelines, catastrophic injury recognition, and techniques for managing football athletes on the sidelines. Lectures providing keys to success alongside hands-on and on-field demonstration sessions will be essential in preparing course participants to:
- - Understand the change in practice when it comes to SCAT-6
- - Effectively cool an athlete when heat illness is suspected
- - Implement air quality procedures.
- - Improve recognition of catastrophic injury and their cardinal signs on a sideline
- - Improve assessment and stabilization techniques for downed players, both prone and supine
- - Utilize proven updated methods in face-mask and helmet removal
