Daniel Whelan, the talented Punter for the Green Bay Packers, is renowned for his powerful leg and precision on the field.

Born in Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Whelan grew up playing Gaelic football. At the age of 13, he moved to the United States with his family, where his talent got him recruited to play American football. He played collegiately at UC Davis before signing with the Packers .

Proud of his Irish roots, Whelan often shares his inspiring journey from Ireland to the NFL, serving as a role model for aspiring athletes. Beyond his on-field achievements, he is deeply committed to giving back, actively promoting football in Ireland and supporting young athletes as they chase their dreams in the sport.

After a brief Q&A, we will end the event and move on to the Pied Piper at the Palace Hotel for an after party. What a way to start your St.Patrick's Day weekend!
Meet the Interviewer
Daniel Whelan will sit down to have a conversation with Paddy Coyne. We look forward to hearing what these two Irish-born athletes share about life abroad and finding community in sport. 
Paddy Coyne
SF Glens Soccer Coach
Patrick (paddy) Coyne moved to California to play and coach soccer and has since developed his craft overseas with coaching experience in Sydney, Australia, South America, and the UK. 
A proud father of two San Franciscan sons, he is the 2024 athletics coach of the year representing the Olympic club men's soccer team. Paddy is also the President and youth coach at the San Francisco Glens a Non-profit soccer club that has been serving the soccer community since 1961.
Paddy's parents are both from Ireland, and he grew up in Birmingham, England, Like Daniel, played GAA football and hurling in Ireland each summer as a youth.
