Let's find a way to make parenting easier.
Join LOOKOUT and AZ Mirror for a community discussion on how parents within our community and parents of LGBTQ+ children navigate the politics and cultural shifts.
This summer 2024, LOOKOUT is putting together community education events that will focus on subjects important to the daily lives of Arizona’s LGBTQ+ population. These events will bring people of different backgrounds together to learn about issues and then discuss solutions to make the community stronger and more engaged.

This July 21, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. we invite you to join us at the One n' Ten offices in downtown Phoenix to attend our panel discussion that will include questions from the audience and an opportunity to get feedback on ideas you might have to strengthen your family.

The topic for this event is:

How parents are navigating the world of anti-LGBTQ+ policies and rhetoric.
In the past four years, a specific brand of conservatism has pushed “parental rights'' as an opportunity to reign in what they view is governmental overreach, specifically when it comes to equity education they disagree with in public schools. But often left out of the conversation are parents or caregivers of LGBTQ+ kids. We gather parents from across the spectrum as well as child advocates to discuss how to best navigate the complicated politics, and tools you can use to help build relationships.

This event is being co-hosted by Arizona Mirror.

Panelists (in alphabetical order):
Kerry Baker, Governing School Board Member
Jeanne Casteen, Executive Director of Secular AZ
River Chunnui, Peoria school teacher and LGBTQ+ parent
Nate Rhoton, Executive Director of One-n'-Ten
Lizette Trujillo, activist and parent of LGBTQ+ child

This event is open to the public, but we are capping our attendance at 50 attendees.

Early RSVP's are open for LOOKOUT and Arizona Mirror subscribers and donors only until July 8, 2024. Afterwards, RSVP's will be open to the general public.
