ABOUT OUR PERFORMERS:

Alexis E. Barton is an award-winning journalist and writer based in Birmingham, Alabama. A Brewton native, her work has appeared in The Washington Post Magazine, The Daily Beast, Southern Living, Shondaland.com, and many others. Her stories have been heard on the Moth Radio Hour on public radio stations across the country. Among Alexis's many honors, she has won Birmingham's Moth StorySLAM as well as the The Moth GrandSLAM, and was included in 2023’s Best American Essays of of Notable Essays and Literary Nonfiction.

Evy Alley grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Coming from a family of artists and educators, she started singing and playing piano when she was very young and then picked up the guitar at age 8, learning her first song, “Folsom Prison Blues”. Some of Evy's influences are Joni Mitchell, Brandi Carlile, Lake Street Dive, Queen, and The Beatles. She also plays drums, bass, piano / keyboards, and sings, and is a recent graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts where she studied classical and jazz percussion. This fall, she will begin her second year at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) where she is pursuing a degree in Songwriting / Performance.
