Celebration of Life for Susan Gwarek
Join us on October 23
Dear family and friends, please help us honor and celebrate the incredible life of Susan Gwarek. Though our hearts may be heavy, let us come together to remember Susan's vibrant strong spirit, cherish the memories we shared, and find some peace in the love and support of one another.
Susan was born August 19, 1958 in Buffalo, NY to Bette and Donald Maines. she has three siblings, Gary, Diane, and Scott and gave birth to Jason and Sarah. Susan has lived a remarkable life, but her battle to live and the odds she faced are what make her truly special.
Susan was diagnosed with multiple myeloma leukemia in November of 2000. Despite facing numerous challenges and health issues, Susan showed incredible strength and resilience. She underwent three transplants, endured numerous broken bones. Despite all this, she never gave up.
Susan's journey was marked by surgeries, treatments, and setbacks, but she faced each obstacle with unwavering determination. Early 2023, Susan once again faced another transplant, however, it was unsuccessful. Doctors predicted that she had little time left on this earth, but Susan surpassed their diagnosis by a year and a half. She refused to let anyone dictate when it was her time. As she would say " I'm not giving up just yet," She was a warrior like no other.
Even during her toughest days, Susan always showed up to her infusion appointments with candy and a smile- sometimes skipping those appointments (shhhh!). Her positivity and unwavering spirit inspired everyone around her. Her journey reminded others that no matter how tough life gets, there is always strength within to keep fighting.
Susan's legacy of strength and courage lives on, inspiring others to face their own challenges with determination and grace. Her story is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the incredible strength that lies within each of us.
