Testu Collective Presents: Sublime Frequencies
A curated evening of intricate quadraphonic sounds in an intimate setting. uncleboonmeh/ (Chris Williams) will perform a collage of samples, synths, and acoustic instruments inspired by Blues musicians Robert Johnson, Son House, and Bukka White. Qasim Naqvi will perform a drone work for modular synthesizer, loosely inspired by the Orion Arm- the minor arm of the Milky Way Galaxy which houses our solar system. MA x Testu (Maria Takeuchi & Alec Fellman, Serena Stucke & Dan Tesene) collaborate to bring a sonic drone forest with hand-built instruments, field recordings, and synths.With each event, Testu Collective aims to reimagine the space of LSD. This time, Kristina, of Tkemali Ikebana, will create hanging floral/plant sculptures in the loft. Gamall Awad will bridge live performances of the evening with surrealist sound collages. Locally-made tea & herbal tinctures by Drew Demi of Sacred Software.

uncleboonmeh/Chris Ryan Williams

 is an interdisciplinary artist and musician based in Brooklyn, NY. His work takes the form of electroacoustic composition and performance installation and deals with decoding family history, ambience, and time-space compression. His debut EP ‘Live’ received praise from Jazz Right Now and The Quietus for “dazzling collaged pieces that ricochet between improvised passages and written material” (Peter Margasak, The Quietus). He has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, has been commissioned by WasteLAnd and International Contemporary Ensemble.

Qasim Naqvi 

is a drummer, improvisor, composer and modular synthesist. He has collaborated with the London Contemporary Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Bang on a Can All Stars, Andrew Cyrille, Wadada Leo Smith and others. He is a founding member of the acoustic trio Dawn of Midi.

MA 

is the collaborative sound and visual works of Maria Takeuchi and Alec Fellman. Together they create sonic and visual poems, merging organismic soundscapes with generative art and illuminating objects inspired by nature.

Testu 

is the intermedia art group founded by Serena Stucke & Dan Tesene. They create experimental videos, concept soundtracks, audiovisual experiences, sound art, and performance art installations.

Gamall Awad

 is a writer, dj, and promoter based in Brooklyn. Since 1999 he has run Backspin Promotions, a boutique PR company that works with independent labels, and has been fortunate to help advance the careers of a wide range of talent. He has been a music consultant for Unsound Festival and Q Department.

Kristina Bajunaishvili / Tkemali Ikebana 

is a NYC-based ikebana artist who studied in the Sogetsu tradition and wants to talk to you using the hyperreal language of bamboo and flowers about interstellar travels of Voyager spacecraft.

Drew Demi founder of Sacred Software 

is conscientious practice that fosters the relationship between land and body through plant and mushroom based elixirs. Her playfull approach to holistic practices reference ancient medicines to craft tea, extracts, herbal tonics, and cocktails. Sacred Software explores dynamic and synergistic herbal offerings of nourishment, empowers us to reclaim and remember earth-based wisdom, forging deeper connections with the earth and its allies.
