Textile Arts Summer Camp
An exciting week focusing on sustainable fashion through creative textile arts
Join us for an educational and interactive week long day camp for kids ages 8-12! Through hands-on activities, games, and mini-lessons, campers will discover what goes on to make the clothing we wear, create textile art using traditional techniques, and learn to be fashion activists in their communities and beyond.
About the Camp
We have partnered with Canada's premier sustainable fashion organisation, Fashion Takes Action, and will incorporate their educational workshop program, 'My Clothes My World', which looks at social and environmental issues through a fashion lens. Each day, the camp will have activities that pertain to a specific theme, including the life cycle of our clothing, environmental pollution, garment workers, and recycling and upcycling. We will discuss these topics through journaling prompts, role-playing games and mini lessons to discover a garmentโ€™s journey around the world and the role that clothing plays in our lives.

Our goal is also to foster an appreciation for textiles with creative and artistic activities that will give kids an opportunity to learn from and feel empowered by the process of making something with their hands. From natural dyeing with plants and food waste to upcycling old garments into something new, there is much to learn about the work that goes into what we wear and why it's important to care for what we own.
