The "100,000"
May is mental health awareness month. Having a healthy body equates to a stronger, healthier mind. That is why we came up with the 100,000 challenge. A virtual challenge around the world where people like you can get together and do something you never thought possible. Most people can't do 100,000 steps in a day or maybe were never crazy enough to attempt such a challenge. But imagine, for just a moment, that you did it. YOU REALLY DID IT! Something you didn't think you could do. Something so difficult, so exhausting, so mentally draining, but you did it. How would you feel right afterward, or the next day, or the next week?

Having a strong, resilient mind can help us fight back when times get tough. When we do something hard and complete it, we can draw from that experience so when life gets tough, we can push back.

So why not do something this year that's tough? Not only tough, but beyond you. We've partnered with the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee (MHAET) to help those in need.

We use the honor system here. So that's on you. To participate, click the link on the main page. We ask that you donate at least $50.

MHAET: Mental Health 101
The proceeds from this event will go toward MHAET's Mental Health 101 program. This program is an early intervention program for middle and high school students across Tennessee. MHA educators visit well over 150 schools annually, serving over 34,000 students in the academic year.

Students are eager to learn about mental health because many know their peers are struggling with mental health problems or struggling themselves. The MH101 program equips students with the skills needed to cope in healthy ways, understanding the differences between what is healthy and normal, to what is concerning, and how to reach out for help. Through lectures, role plays and different activities on how to identify signs among oneself as well as their peers, students learn vital information to help get past the barriers of the stigma in order to speak to one another about mental health. Years of outcome data shows significant gains in demonstrable knowledge of mental illness signs and symptoms, symptom duration, suicidal behaviors, and how to intervene. MH101 helps to change and save lives, and protect our youth’s mental health at a time when it is most needed!
Student Testimonials
"Thank you for coming and teaching our class. I learned a lot. I have noticed that I have the symptoms of depression. I would never have known if you didn’t come. So thank you!"
"Mental Health 101 was really good. It was even better than what I got from my doctor because it made me feel like I’m normal and not crazy."
