The evening continues with a live performance by Philadelphia-born saxophonist and rising jazz force Hiruy Tirfe, whose soulful sound and dynamic stage presence have earned him international acclaim and a first-place finish at the prestigious 2024 DC JazzPrix International Band Competition.

Hiruy Tirfe
Philadelphia-born saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Hiruy Tirfe is an emerging force in contemporary jazz, known for his soulful sound, technical precision, and dynamic live performances. A graduate of the University of the Arts, Tirfe has developed a versatile career as a performer, arranger, educator, and film scorer, blending influences from jazz, R&B, and global music traditions.
Tirfe has shared the stage and studio with an impressive roster of artists, including Patti LaBelle, The Roots, Solange, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, establishing himself as a sought-after collaborator across genres. His debut album, 10,000 Hours, has earned international acclaim, reflecting both his musical depth and the influence of his upbringing as a first-generation American.
In 2024, Tirfe and his quartet were awarded first place at the prestigious DC JazzPrix International Band Competition—solidifying his status as one of the most exciting rising artists in jazz today.
With a sound that is both deeply rooted and forward-thinking, Hiruy Tirfe continues to captivate audiences around the world, bringing energy, authenticity, and artistry to every performance.
