A life well lived

Thelma Alice Meadows Dean was born on November 10, 1926 to the late Peter Meadows and Catherine Blatch Meadows in Miami, Florida.

Thelma spent her early days living at Bluff Eleuthera in the Bahamas until she was 12 years old and then she returned to live in Miami.

Her basic education was completed in the Dade County Public School System at Booker T. Washington.

Thelma received her baptism and was confirmed at St. Agnes, where she was a lifetime member. She was also an active member of the Rector’s Chapter and Parish Chapter/St. Maria’s Chapter.

She also was an active member in the Mr. Wonderful Community Club.

Following an extended illness, God called Thelma home on March 27, 2022.

She is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Dean, her brother Kermit Meadows, her sister, Mary Hilton and her grandson Travis Meadows.

She leaves to mourn her four children, Carl Meadows (Ozie), Harold Meadows (Paula), Lynn Meadows-Tatum, (James) and Clarence Dean.

Her siblings, Catherine Davis, Roosevelt Meadows (Yvette), Vera McMath (Harrison), her grandchildren, Carla Meadows, Carlette Meadows, Sherelle Meadows-Crum (Frank) of Tampa, Inger Steward (Roy), Dr. Natasha Meadows of Philadelphia, Melissa Meadows-Smith (Reginald) of Philadelphia. A loving cousin Gloria McPhee; her sister in laws: Jane White, Marjorie Tyler, and Amy Dean; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild;  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and devoted church family.
