The Resistance Retreat
A space of deep connection January 24, 2025 - January 26, 2025
When things are dark, the best thing to do is come together.
The day of the inauguration will bring a wave of reality that will feel overwhelming, even traumatic. In moments like this, we need to ground ourselves in what is good. We need to feel deeply connected and supported. And we sure can use sisterhood and practical tools to help us through the next four years.
And that is why I am calling you to come gather the weekend after the inauguration for a retreat designed to anchor us in deep connection, resilience, and joy. Together we will sooth and regulate our nervous systems, remind ourselves that we are not alone, and embrace the healing power of laughter. Lots of laughter!
Not feeling alone is one of the MOST POWERFUL things we can do for ourselves.
This isn't about coming up with a master plan. It's about surrounding ourselves with like-minded sisters and sharing practical tools for our toolboxes that will help us navigate the next chapter. It's about supporting one another as we help our families, our communities, and ourselves.
Through connection and community we can find strength, grounding, and even hope. Let's come together, lift each other up, and remind ourselves that we have the tools--and the sisterhood--to thrive.

A space for women to connect, grieve, and strengthen each other.
I long for women to come together in a safe and supportive group--a space where we can connect deeply, grieve openly, and bolster each other. As we navigate the next four years I believe the essential questions are, "How will I survive?" and "How can I help others survive?" I see these as crucial questions--questions that will guide our exploration as we face living under an oppressive regime.
Together we will also look at the current moment in history through the lenses of systems of oppression. We will work to dismantle our internalized patriarchy--but in gentle, loving ways, exploring simple avenues to cultivate awareness, recognizing these systems and cultural narratives in ourselves and others. We can then better understand them, see them for what they are, and take steps towards change. When we understand the systems and cultural narratives at play, we feel more grounded in our power. It's pretty cool!

Setting

The Lodge at Marconi is truly spectacular. It's set in Tamales Bay, about 90 minutes north of SFO. It sits on 62 acres of The Marconi State Park, on the West Marin coastline. The photo above is McCargo Hall, where we will be meeting for the retreat! Inside it has a gas fireplace and leather chairs and sofas...it will be our cozy safe space.
In terms of getting there, a car will be needed. I can take 3 -4 people up with me, and I will be connecting with everyone coming to make sure we can all carpool with each other. I am visualizing this happening with ease. (I just checked and there's currently some excellent deals at
carrentals.com--a site I use a lot.)
By the way, the drive up has you crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge! I recommend pulling over for a photo op here. And if you love coffee, I'll tell you about a great place near the bridge to stop...(see photo below!)
There's so much to do in Tamales Bay--hiking, spotting elephant seals, vineyards, creameries, and oyster farms just to name a few! So if time is available to you, you may wish to come in early or stay late. That said, it's okay if that isn't possible. Please trust you will get everything you need from the time you are here.
Your Host

Here's me at the aforementioned coffee stop near the Golden Gate Bridge!
I am Elijah Selby, Feminist Leadership Coach and Mentor.
I've been coaching since 2011. I'm committed to dismantling systems of inequity and believe we all have the power to make a difference in this world. The systems of oppression that we live in want us to believe we are powerless and I delight in proving that wrong!
I am an intersectional feminist committed to my journey of understanding my white privilege and I love helping other white folx understand that too. I am certain this is a lifelong journey.
I love helping women dismantle their internalized paradigms of the patriarchy--of which there are many! The freedom that results is truly awe-inspiring!
I passionately believe that WE ARE THE SEED PLANTERS. We are planting the seeds of a more just world. Seed planting requires attention and daily nourishment in order for roots to take hold. I take joy and comfort knowing the seeds I plant will grow strong long after I am gone.
