Our advocacy began on November 1, 2025 with a peaceful gathering on the Litchfield, CT Town Green. The gathering brought together over 150 town residents, supporters, and media. The gathering was held in the spirit of truth and reconciliation, and in the hope of grieving and healing together as a community.
For decades, former coach Dave Driscoll (“Fu”) was protected by silence, reputation, and denial. Our community failed to protect the middle school boys who trusted the adults around them. His friendliness and status as a “great coach” were the tools he used to access and abuse young boys while those in power looked away.
On November 1, survivors, witnesses, allies, parents, and town residents shared their stories publicly, for the first time.
Speakers were: Amy (Schildgen) Sobek, Nate Litwin, John Fitterer, Dan Bird, Burke Gibney, Amy Fitterer (on behalf of Matt Hladik), Jana Wu, and Rachel Bernhardt. We gathered to speak truth with compassion, to confront the passive enabling that allowed this harm to continue, and to acknowledge the trauma caused by neglecting to believe and protect our most vulnerable community members.
Always believe a child. We continue to work together out of love, out of a deep desire to educate, and to reconcile for the generations to come.
