Overview
VA Palo Alto Health Care System is celebrating 100 years of serving Veterans at our Menlo Park Division, which dates back to the WWI-era when it was originally the site of Camp Fremont. After WWI, most of the original 7,200 acres was sold, leaving approximately 90 acres that were transferred to U.S. Public Health.
Of the more than five million Veterans who returned from WWI, 200,000 required hospitalization. Eventually, the land was turned over to the Veterans Bureau in 1922 and after construction, the hospital began serving Veterans in 1923.

do i have to be a VETERAN to attend?
No. All are welcome. Bring your family, friends, neighbor, and anyone else you want to enjoy the celebration with.
can i bring my pet?
Our campus only allows service animals. We want to ensure these animals are able to perform their duties without distractions.
is there free parking?
There is free parking available next to the event with overflow lots near the front of the campus. ADA parking is available.
can i enroll for va care at this event?
Yes! We will have Member Services staff available to help you apply and learn about your eligibility.
can i bring lawn chairs or picnic items?
Feel free to bring your blankets or chairs. However, tents or tables are not permitted. We will have tents and tables available in the food area.
is alcohol or smoking allowed at the event?
Possession or use of weapons, alcohol, or drugs are prohibited on Federal property.
can i charge my car on the campus?
No. While there are charging stations on the campus, they are only available for government vehicles.
can i volunteer for this event?
