You are cordially invited to proper Victorian Afternoon Tea at the Hermitage.

Sip some tea, enjoy some tradiitonal tea sandwiches, scones, and desserts, and learn a bit of history about formal tea parties, games and traditions. Have some fun and wear your best hat! The tea itself will take place at the John Rosencrantz House and then we invite you to walk over to the Hermitage and hear the sotry of "The Hermitage Tea Room" which the ladies of the Hermitage successfully operated from 1917-1931 to help make ends meet. Take a tour of our gardens and hear our master gardeners talk about the lovely heirloom plants and herbs. And take a walk through the Hermitage and hear about Theodosia Prevost (who married Aaron Burr in the Hermitage in 1782) as well as the Rosencrantz family who occupied the home for 163 years! To quote Alice in Wonderland, it promises to be "curiouser and curiouser!"
