We invite you as an advisor to discuss your perspective on industry trends.

Purpose
The purpose of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) is to ensure that the VIU horticulture program remains relevant to the needs of the industry.

The PAC will:
  • Advise on new approaches and technologies to inform the program delivery.
  • Discuss labour needs and employment opportunities for graduates.
  • Identify opportunities for work placements and strengthen community links.
  • Recommend curriculum changes to include current realities and emerging trends. 
  • Provide feedback on the existing program and or the need to consider new programs.
  • Identify opportunities for new continuing education offerings.
  • Connect possible sources of funding. 
  • Provide insight on opportunities for collaborations and research.

About VIU Horticulture
The VIU Horticulture program is a one-year foundation program. Students earn a VIU Certificate and levels one and two of Skilled Trades BC Landscape Horticulturalist (formerly ITA) training. The program covers a broad spectrum of horticultural practices, including propagation, greenhouse production, landscape maintenance, nursery crop production, landscape design, landscape construction, and plant identification.
