Join us for a timely and thoughtful evening with Gil Troy—historian, public intellectual, and author—for a program designed for parents and grandparents navigating conversations about Israel with children and grandchildren in an increasingly polarized and noisy world.

Many parents and grandparents feel unprepared for these conversations, especially amid the volume of misinformation, social media pressure, and simplified narratives younger generations encounter daily. Avoiding the topic can strain relationships, while relying on talking points or debate often deepens distance rather than understanding.
About Gil Troy
Gil Troy is a historian, public intellectual, and author whose work focuses on Zionism, modern Jewish history, and the intersection of ideas, politics, and identity. He brings a rare ability to combine historical depth with contemporary relevance, helping audiences navigate complex and emotionally charged topics with clarity and nuance.

Drawing on decades of scholarship and public engagement, Gil is known for translating big ideas into accessible, thoughtful frameworks that support meaningful conversation rather than division. His work emphasizes values-based engagement, intellectual honesty, and the importance of context—especially when addressing issues that span generations and perspectives.

An accomplished speaker and prolific writer, Gil has lectured widely across North America and Israel and contributes regularly to leading publications and Jewish forums. He is widely respected for his balanced, humane approach to difficult conversations, offering insight that is both intellectually rigorous and deeply grounded in care for Jewish peoplehood and democratic values.
In this grounded and practical session, Gil Troy helps participants approach conversations about Israel with greater knowledge, confidence, and emotional steadiness. Rather than focusing on persuasion or argument, the program emphasizes staying informed, values-driven, and connected—offering historical context alongside tools for listening carefully, responding thoughtfully, and remaining present even when perspectives differ.

Participants will leave better equipped to engage honestly and constructively, preserving trust and relationship while addressing one of the most complex and emotionally charged issues facing Jewish families today.
All participants will receive a copy of Gil Troy’s book, To Resist the Academic Intifada: Letters to My Students on Defending the Zionist Dream.
