WHITEFELLA YELLA TREE
screening and Q&A
embassy of australia
To celebrate the opening of the new Embassy of Australia in Washington, DC, Australian Theatre Live presents a screening of Dylan Van Den Berg's stage play Whitefella Yella Tree with a reception and Q&A.

Whitefella Yella Tree starring Callan Purcell as Ty and Guy Simon as Neddy, is a stunning exploration of young, queer love and Country in the midst of invasion, told with a fierce poetic vision and razor-sharp wit. Presented in August 2022 by Griffin Theatre Company, and later winning the 2023 NSW Premier's Literary Award for Playwriting, this new Australian play is well deserving of a permanent position in the national canon.

Australian Theatre Live (ATL), a non-for-profit and registered charity, is Australia's only digital theatre company. ATL records and distributes popular Australia theatre captures for audiences around the world. Through their streaming service ATL ON DEMAND, ATL is dedicated to making arts and culture accessible to all, regardless of location, income or ability, whilst developing Australia's live-performance industry, and creating an archive of its playwright, performing and stage production heritage.

“Whitefella Yella Tree is exceptional work all-round; a uniquely Australian story told by a largely Indigenous cast and crew… I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I left the theatre.”

“The actors create something impossibly tender that still bites with gloriously lived-in detail. As they fall in love with each other, we fall in love with them.”
