For over 27 years, Mile High United Way has brought our community together to celebrate the power of women and girls at our Women United Luncheon.  The theme for this year’s luncheon: Timeless. We believe the values of kindness, humility, courage and integrity are timeless, and we can make a lasting difference in our community by supporting women and girls.

All event proceeds support Mile High United Way’s Women United Initiative, which helps women access to critical resources such as stable housing, new job opportunities, high-quality child care and more so they can pursue their dreams. Mary Steenburgen
About Our Speaker

For nearly five decades, Academy Award and Golden Globe winning actress Mary Steenburgen has delighted audiences with her timeless portrayals of humorous, emotionally complex and relatable characters. She is best known for her work in “Melvin and Howard,” for which she received a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, “Stepbrothers,” “Elf,” “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” and television shows including “The Last Man on Earth,” “Justified,” “Orange is the New Black” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Mary currently stars in the Netflix comedy, “A Man on the Inside.”

In addition to a prolific film and television career, Mary is an award-winning songwriter for Universal Music Publishing Group. She has worked with acclaimed artists such as Tim McGraw, Kate York and Caitlyn Smith. In 2020, Mary partnered with York and Smith to write “Glasgow (No Place Like Home),” for the film Wild Rose. The song received a Critics’ Choice Award in addition to other accolades and nominations.

Mary’s philanthropic efforts include supporting the THEA Foundation, Oceana and Pathway to Kinship, among others. Together with her husband, Ted Danson, Mary cofounded Angels at Risk, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit which provides resources for families affected by drug and alcohol abuse. The couple received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the 2025 Emmy Awards for their extraordinary activism and philanthropic efforts.

About Our Honoree

Arlene Hirschfeld has made an indelible mark on Colorado as a life-long community leader, philanthropist and tireless activist working on behalf of women, children, education and the arts.

Arlene has volunteered for nonprofits including the Rose Community Foundation, where she was the first woman board chair, the Denver Art Museum, the Women’s Foundation of Colorado and the Allied Jewish Federation (now JEWISHColorado), where she served in 1999 as the second woman president in the organization’s more than 50-year history.

We are grateful for Arlene’s outstanding support for women and girls across Metro Denver and are thrilled to honor her as this year’s Frances Wisebart Jacobs award recipient!
