In 1944, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) chartered District Council 37 to represent public employees in New York City - today we represent nearly 150,000 members in both the public and private sectors in over 1,000 different job titles.
Our 80th Anniversary not only serves as a momentous opportunity to celebrate our past, present, and future, but this year marks a special occasion as we return to our headquarters which has been under renovation since just before the pandemic. We look forward to welcoming our members home and hope you will join us for the weekend's festivities.
