We are excited to welcome you to the 7th East Kent Surgical Conference 2024 at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge, Canterbury. The venue is situated in the idyllic grounds of Canterbury Cathedral, part of UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the heart of the city of Canterbury. It has stunning views of the Cathedral. This is the first time we are organising the conference in an outside venue.

It would be our 7th year in running this CPD accredited conference which will be attended both face to face and virtually by delegates from across the U.K. “The Royal College of Surgeons of England has awarded up to 8 CPD points” for the event.

The conference has had a strong tradition that has encouraged audit and research, promoting the work of Surgical Trainees, Junior Doctors and Medical Students. We have , in the past, received good numbers of high-quality abstracts in the categories of Case Reports & Case Series, Audit & QIPs, Original Research and Videos from across the country and internationally over the years.

This year award /prizes for each category includes:

Langenbeck Prize for the Best Case Report/ Case Series
Debakey Prize for the Best Video Presentation
Littlewood Prize for the Best Audit/ QIP/ Research
Maryland Prize for the Best Foundation Year Presentation
Mcindoe Prize for the Best Medical Student Presentation
Kocher Prize for the Best Poster Presentation

We are extremely fortunate and honoured to have had exemplary lectures from prominent speakers in the past and hope to exceed the expectations of our delegates with this year's programme that will include debate and panel discussions involving renowned clinicians from the field of surgery. There will be a Conference Gala Dinner following the day event.

The event that has been organised by Kent Group of General Surgeons has grown from strength to strength and year on year. The all-day event is expected to attract over 200 delegates followed by Gala Evening Dinner which is optional. We have subsidised registration fee for the Foundation Year Doctors and Medical Students. Please take advantage of our early bird discount and book your place before it is sold out. The 7th EKSC provides an exciting opportunity for the attendees for networking.

The event has been successful in the past through excellent input from the industry and we offer our sincere thanks to our past sponsors. It would be impossible to host an event of this magnitude without the backing of the industry and we are very grateful for the continued support that will enable us further to raise the profile of this conference.

We would also like to thank Medical Education Department of East Kent Hospitals University NHS foundation Trust for their unwavering support for the past 7 years.

Best wishes
