Transportation Recommendations
What AI has to say:
Getting from Munich Airport (MUC) to the Munich Marriott Hotel (Berliner Str. 93) is actually quite easy. While the S-Bahn train is the "standard" advice, it’s often not the most convenient for this specific hotel because the Marriott is located in Schwabing, North Munich.
Here are the three best ways to get there, including the train and two highly recommended alternatives.

1. The "Secret" Best Option: Lufthansa Express Bus - click here to purchase tickets in advance or purchase onsite from the driver
This is arguably the most convenient choice for your specific hotel. It’s a coach bus (open to all airlines) that bypasses the city center and drops you off very close to the Marriott.

  • Route: Take the bus from the Airport to the "Munich North (Schwabing) / Nordfriedhof" stop.
  • From the airport: follow the signs for the "Lufthansa Express Bus" or "Airport Bus.
  • Duration: ~25 minutes.
  • Hours: Departs every 20 minutes from approximately 06:30 to 22:30.
  • Walking Distance: ~450 meters (6-minute walk) from the Nordfriedhof bus stop to the hotel lobby.

2. The Reliable Standard: S-Bahn Train (S8 + U6)
If you prefer the rails or already have a day pass, the train is reliable but requires one transfer to get to Berliner Straße.

  • Route: Take the S8 (towards Herrsching) to Marienplatz. Transfer to the U6 (towards Garching-Forschungszentrum) and get off at the Nordfriedhof station.
  • Duration: ~55–60 minutes.
  • Hours: Trains run nearly 24/7, with a small gap between 01:30 and 04:00.
  • Walking Distance: ~400 meters (5-minute walk) from the Nordfriedhof U-Bahn exit.
  • Advice: Avoid the S1 line for this route; the S8 is significantly faster when heading toward the eastern/central part of the city for your transfer.

3. The Door-to-Door Option: Taxi or Ride-Hailing (Uber/FreeNow)

  • Route: Direct via the A9 highway.
  • Duration: ~20–25 minutes (can increase to 40+ during rush hour).
  • Hours: Available 24/7.
  • Advice: A standard taxi costs roughly €85–€100. Uber is available in Munich and is often slightly cheaper (€60–€80), but you must meet them in the designated "Ride-Hailing" pick-up zones at the airport.
  • Pro Tip: scroll down when choosing an uber, and select an uber taxi if you want to avoid the longer walk to the ride share pickup. The taxi pickup zone at Munich International Airport is closer to the baggage claim exit.
