The Southern Ontario Behavioural Decision Research (SOBDR) Conference brings together researchers, practitioners, and students interested in understanding how people make judgments and decisions. The 2026 conference continues SOBDR’s tradition of fostering interdisciplinary dialogue across fields such as psychology, marketing, management, economics, and public policy.

Karen Page Winterich
Gerald i. Susman Professor in Sustainabilty and Professor of Marketing
Karen is the Gerald I. Susman Professor in Sustainability and Professor of Marketing. She conducts research in the area of consumer behavior, with much of her work examining how consumers’ social identities influence charitable giving as well as sustainable and im(moral) behavior. Her research is published in Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Marketing, among others. She serves as Co-Editor for the Journal of Marketing Research and is Past President of the Academic Council of the American Marketing Association. Karen also enjoys teaching sustainability marketing which she developed as part of Smeal's Sustainability Education Initiatives.

Submissions are welcome from both faculty members and PhD students. The committee encourages submissions from all areas and disciplines that address behavioural decision-making (including psychology, public policy, economics, marketing, organizational behaviour, finance, decision sciences, and other fields). All submissions will be double-blind reviewed by the program committee to make final decisions as to which papers will be accepted for presentation at the conference.
You may submit your research as a conference paper (15 min presentation), data blitz (5 min presentation), or working paper (poster presentation).
Conference paper: submit an abstract of up to 750 words. Data blitz: submit an abstract of up to 250 words. Working paper: submit an abstract of up to 250 words. Submission deadline: Sunday, February 15th, 5:00pm ET.
